Just to make it a bit easier, I thought I would explain some of the terminology used here on the site! CC : Challenge Certificate , winning three of these, under three different judges makes your dog a Champion or Show Champion . These are awarded to the best dog and bitch on the day at a show and are highly prized, it means that the judge is of the opinion that your dog is worthy of the title Champion, you also attain your Stud Book Number. RCC : Reserve Challenge Certificate, this is awarded to the next best dog or bitch after the CC winner. If the CC winner is disqualified for whatever reason the RCC winner becomes the recipiant of the CC, also attain your Stud Book Number. Show Champion: The title awarded to a dog that has won three CC's but has not completed its Show Gundog Working Certificate, this title is only used in the gundog breeds ( and Border Collies...dont ask!) Champion : You can drop the Show part of your dogs title if he/she passes the Show Gundog Working Certifiacte ( SGWC), it proves that your show dog can also do the job it was originally bred for. JW: Junior Warrant, to attain this you have to win a certain number of first prizes whilst under the age of 18 months, believe me it is not an easy award to win, it also provides the dog or bitch with their Stud Book Number. Stud Book Number: You have to qualify for Crufts at certain shows around the country throughout the year , if your dog has won its Stud Book Number it is automatically qualified for Life, therefore assuming that only the best dogs attend Crufts.
SGWC: The Show Gundog Working Certificate is a test for your dog to perform as a working gundog in the field, retrieving game, entering cover, being shot over, entering and retrieving from water and being a steady dog in the shooting field. |
